TSI is used to diagnose patients with Graves’ disease and also helps in its treatment. It is used in patients with subclinical Graves’s hyperthyroidism or patient with unilateral ophthalmopathy. Neonatal hyperthyroidism in children is caused by transfer from mother, IgG across placenta which lead towards fatal hyperthyroidism. Normally, the titers are dropped during pregnancy and elevates during third trimester which is related to neonatal hyperthyroidism.
