This test is used to evaluate the level of three main classes of antibodies (immunoglobulins) IgA, IgG, IgM in the serum. These immunoglobulins play important role in the functioning of our immune system and provide defense against parasites, bacteria and viruses. This test is used to evaluate the increase or decrease in the number of immunoglobulins in the body. Decrease in the level of serum albumins is indicative of weakened immune response that can lead to recurrent infections including diarrhea, respiratory problems, fungal infections, ear infections and infections of the intestine. Increase in serum immunoglobulin (polyclonal or monoclonal) can be related to various gammopathies and chronic inflammations.
LabEspy recommends Private MD Labs, Direct Labs, Walk-In Lab for this test.
