This test determines the level of Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the serum and gives an idea about the variation in secretion of this hormone by the prostate gland. This test is also involved in the pretreatment stages of prostate cancer and determines the efficiency of treatment used for cancer. The symptoms associated with this test include pain in back and pelvic region, frequent and painful urination and family history.
