This test used to evaluate the level of myoglobin (muscle hemoglobin) in the blood. It is used to diagnose or detect any kind of muscle damage. The level of myoglobin in the blood increases significantly in case of any kind of damage to heart or skeletal muscles. A urine test is also recommended in case of severe skeletal muscle damage as high level of myoglobin is indicative of high degree muscular damage. Elevated myoglobin levels in urine also cause severe kidney damage. This test is sometimes also recommended (along with troponin test) for the evaluation of risk or symptoms of heart attack.
LabEspy recommends Personalabs, Ulta Lab Tests, Walk-In Lab for this test.
