This test is used to detect the presence of IgG antibodies against Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type 1 in the blood. This test is generally recommended for the screening of prenatal patients as this virus can cause serious effects in pregnant women and the developing baby. If a person has no history of infection or clinical signs of herpes virus infection, then a positive IgG test will be indicative of asymptomatic primary infection. This test does not identify the site of infection of HSV.
LabEspy recommends Lab Testing API, Personalabs, Save On Labs for this test.
