This test is used for the screening of hepatitis A virus in the blood. Two types of antibodies are detected using this test, IgG to diagnose the presence of any acute infection (initial stage of disease) and IgM to detect whether the disease have entered later stages (past infection). Total HAV (IgM+ IgG) provides a complete detail about the extent of infection. IgM antibodies are screened in case of acute clinical symptoms, which include fever, jaundice, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, dark urine, fatigue and pain in joints.
LabEspy recommends Health Testing Centers, Personalabs, Walk-In Lab for this test.
