This test evaluates the level of CK in the blood. It is used for the diagnosis of myocardial infarction and skeletal muscle damage. The level of CK has been found to increase in myocarditis, myocardial infarction, muscular dystrophy, muscle trauma and excessive exercise. In MI diagnosis, three fractions are found; MM is found in normal serum, MB in estimation of infarct size, BB is rarely present and is also the cancer marker for breast, ovary and colon.
