This test is used to evaluate the level of human leukocyte antigen (HLA), HLA DQ2 and HLA DQ8 in the blood. It is used for the diagnosis of genetic disorder known as celiac disease (CD). HLA have been found to play role in the induction of immune response against gluten, about 95% of cases of CD have HLA-DQ2 heterodimer and 5% have HLA-DQ8 heterodimer. This test is also recommended to screen people who are at high risk of developing CD, they include people with Down’s syndrome, Williams syndrome, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis (early onset) and anemia.
LabEspy recommends True Health Labs, Walk-In Lab for this test.
