This test is used to evaluate the T- cells CD4:CD8 ratio in the blood. This ratio is critical in the screening and diagnosis of HIV-1 infection. A decrease in CD4:CD8 cells is a positive indicator of HIV-1 infections as this virus attack the CD4 T cells and replicate in them. This causes a decrease in CD4 T cells and an increase in CD8 T cells and lead to the destruction of the immune system. This test is also recommended to monitor the progression of disease and the effect of therapy (HAART).
LabEspy recommends Private MD Labs, Walk-In Lab, Direct Labs for this test.
