This test is used for the detection of antibodies produced against Candida albicans infection. It can be used for the presence of current or previous infection, however, it has some limitations. It cannot detect the C. albican infection present in deep-seated tissues of immunocompromised patients, neither can it differentiate between yeast present as normal flora of the body. This yeast can infest any part of the body, including esophagus, skin, nails, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and genitalia (penis and vagina). The clinical symptoms associated with C. albicans infection include soreness, swelling, difficulty in swallowing, thrush, ulcer, vomiting and indigestion.
LabEspy recommends Save On Labs, Ulta Lab Tests, Personalabs for this test.
