The basic metabolic panel (BMP) is a set of different tests (glucose, potassium, sodium, chloride, creatinine, calcium, carbon dioxide, BUN: creatinine ratio) used for the evaluation of metabolic health of an individual. It is used to evaluate the status of blood glucose, electrolytes (acid/base balance), calcium levels and kidney function. This panel is normally recommended in patients admitted in emergency rooms to get comprehensive information about their current state. Major abnormalities in BMP values can lead to respiratory failure, irregular heartbeats, kidney failure and diabetic coma.
LabEspy recommends Walk-In Lab, Lab Testing API, Health Testing Centers for this test.
