This test is used to evaluate the levels of bilirubin (a byproduct of hemoglobin/RBCs breakdown) in the blood. Under normal conditions, bilirubin is eliminated from the blood by the action of liver. Increase in blood bilirubin is proportional to any damage to liver or increased breakdown of RBCs. This test is used to diagnose hemolytic anemia, liver and bile duct disorders and jaundice. The symptoms that lead to the recommendation of this test include brownish yellow color urine, abdominal swelling and pain, jaundice, excessive use of alcohol and vomiting.
LabEspy recommends Lab Testing API, Walk-In Lab, Ulta Lab Tests for this test.
