This test is used to detect the presence of two antibodies, anti-CCP (Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide) and RF (Rheumatoid Factor) in the blood. It is used for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. The CCP antibodies are formed at earlier stage of the disease and are an important marker of the disease. RA is also an autoimmune antibodies and target the Fc portion of IgG and result in inflammation. RA is also used for the diagnosis, as well as monitoring of effectiveness of therapy given for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The symptoms that lead to the recommendation of this test include swelling and pain in joints, firmness of muscles, loss of appetite, weakness and fatigue.
