This test is used to evaluate the presence of antibodies against streptococcal infection. It aids in the diagnosis of any previous or existing infection of streptococci. The complications of this infection are severe and if left untreated can lead to glomerulonephritis, rheumatic fever, tonsillitis, and scarlet fever. This antibody (anti-DNase B) detects the exoenzyme (DNase B), which is involved in the pathogenesis of the bacteria. The symptoms that lead to the recommendation of this test include pain in joints, rash on skin, fever and painless aggregations under the skin.
