This blood test is used to evaluate the presence and subsequently levels of Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in an individual. It aids in the diagnosis of liver, testicular and ovarian cancers. A combination of AFP may be used with AFP-L3% to compare the amount of AFP-L3 (an AFP variant) against the total presence of AFP. This variation helps in determining the development of hepatocellular carcinoma for patients of chronic liver disease.
LabEspy recommends Ulta Lab Tests for this test.
